Development Update - 20th January 2021
🕑 Added 2021-01-20 20:49:20 +0000 UTCHey! As I've mentioned in the latest development update, there is an UI overhaul in the works, to complement the new Smartwatch UI as well. The idea behind this new UI is to make gameplay smoother, more presentable on multiple devices (such as smaller screens and mobile phones) and at the same time, it brings a lot of potential for upgrading the current mechanics of the game, such as the avatar system into one you'd hopefully like more. At the bottom of this post, you can see a comparison between the latest public version and the current version in the works (notice the lack of need to scroll down to see the full height of your character). Next comes a more elaborate description of what I've gone into lately.
- I'm making some progress on the first drawing of the Exotic Beast Hunting Quest. I've saved the sketch of this drawing in a separate folder and I will post its contents in a Patron-Only post once there are a few more sketches (because they are a bit NSFW and I can't post NSFW content in a public post)
- Since this version brings the ripped clothing mechanic (as in, your clothes will get more and more ripped in battle or else, showing more skin underneath), I've decided to update the way the current avatar system works. The new system will be flexible enough to support multiple clothing slots (different tops, different bottoms) and your character will be able to also pick an underwear (which is also separated into slots, like a bra can be equipped separately from panties) to wear under her clothes. Some clothes can be one pieces (they cover both the top and bottom slots), some clothes can just cover individual slots. Different slots can also have the potential of being damaged more, which can make content that involves it more immersive.
All in all, I'm confident that these new changes (UI and underlying mechanics) are worth the time and effort, because a game needs both content and a fun way to enjoy that content. I definitely could've shortened the timeframe to the next update by not going into these changes, but in the long term, these changes will be worth it.
These days I'm going to continue working on what I've said before, so that I can more quickly get back to developing a steady flow of written content. One disclaimer though, I'm going to probably take a day or two off on Sunday, because I'm getting vaccinated against the new coronavirus and I think it's best to take it easy to mitigate any potential side effects.
Below you can see a comparison between the new UI-in-Progress and the old UI (v0.1.3).
- New UI. Notice the avatar always being shown in full size and the ease-of-use on mobile (and not only).

- Old UI. Notice the fact that you can't really have your character at full height on smaller screens and that you need to scroll down a lot. Also, it's borderline unplayable on mobile.
