Project-Next Environmental Concept Art
We've been doing a lot of explorative work into what the environments could look like. We've been trying out 3D and 2D things and right now we're in love with the 2D concepts that you can see at the very top of this image dump.
One of the big problems we've been running into with early prototyping is that the problem of determining draw order is actually much more difficult than we initially thought for a more isometric style with multiple layers of height, compared to TC's flat straight-on 2D look.
With TC, it's very simple. We tie draw order to how high on the Y axis something is. Like if Jenna is stood above a tree, we can safely assume that she's actually behind the tree. And if she's below a tree, we can assume that she's in front of the tree.
However, with this new look. We've also been trying to experiment with having multiple levels of height in a scene. For example, having someone standing on top of a building, while also having people standing on the ground behind them. With TC's logic, since this person on the building is above the person on the ground on the Y axis, they should draw behind them. But that wouldn't make sense because there's this hidden Z coordinate that needs to determine how high in the world this person is standing.
We're still working on figuring this out and it's just a bunch of really annoying math to solve.
Project-Next Story
Right now we're in love with the idea of playing a character of a long-extinct succubus-like race that recently gains her succubus traits living in a fantasy world where unlicensed sex is outlawed and the land is ruled by a tyrannical religious group. Naturally, this group wouldn't be happy with a succubus running around so there'd be some conflict there. It's a bit of a fun reversal of how TC's world was, where instead of the world being the source of sex and corruption, we're the source of the sex and (optional) corruption in the world. This will also allow us to integrate sex into combat from the very beginning in a way that makes perfect sense.
We're excited to have races like catgirls, bunny girls, humans, elves, plant girls, and all kinds of other fantasy races. It'll be fun to have a variety of character designs that weren't really that possible in TC as much since TC is a more human-centric world.
Project-Next MC Concepts
Here's a peek at a bunch of different looks that we could go with for our main succubus girl. We're playing around with the idea that you'd start out with either no horns or just very short nubs, and then your horns would grow as you progress. It's all very explorative and nothing is final yet. Let us know which you like most!
Project-Next Art Style
Here's a look at how the character art style has progressed since we last showed it off. We're using Liedryn from TC as a placeholder to test what a character could look like.

2nd line from the left no2 and 3 are ok 2 for the general figure and 3 just for the horns tc - the glasses are bae .. profession "Professor Slutarella" bar jenna last stages after (and during) the drug abuse are kinda frightening and hard to watch for me ... this just means the imaginary is working and to much...no i don't want to think about metamorphosis by shindoL but somehow it does yet we don't know if the same ending is going to happen here or not and a warning if you never read stuff form shindoL think twice before you look into his work... quite a few works seem kinda tame (if ur not new to hentai) but other works make up for the psychological impact... and don't need some kind of gruesome imagery to shock you

Wow - those are some really nice concept artworks. Love everything I'm seeing so far from the new game :) Though I will miss the turn based combat. But I have full faith in you :) I like the column 2 and column 4 succubus designs :) The story idea is neat ^^ You guys really rock - keep up the great work! And good luck with those math problems - I feel you!

Im glad you guys are working on another game, seeing TC is close to being finished, i was a bit sad because its got an interesting story, and the art is fantastic and a good fit. Knowing that youre making another game based around a succubus in a fantasy world, will be very cool to see and explore the world and story. Can't wait, full of excitement!!!!

Maybe a dumb question, but if I update to the newest release will my saves be lost?

It's always hard to 100% say exactly how things are going to be so early in development. We want to have the freedom to experiment. That being said, right now I'm imagining a top down fantasy rpg with soulslike real time combat.

Start with top left. Progression could take you to other designs. It's a succubus; drawing art for costumes with different attributes is going to be required as they are supposed to change when needed.

That would be cool, but it could also present a challenge since breast size needs to be reflected in all clothing. Let's say we have three breast sizes and 10 shirts, well now we have to draw 30 pairs of titties. We'll see tho! Maybe there's a way, but atm that might not be possible. - Vils
