april sketchbook tour!!
🕑 Added 2020-04-30 17:26:35 +0000 UTChello friends! sorry this sketchbook tour is a bit last minute β i didn't really draw much at all this month until the last week D: this quarantine has been weird and bad for my creativity but i feel like my mojo is finally coming back (slowly but surely!!!)
i'm getting a little tired of drawing the same things over and over so i'm determined in the coming months to make some ugly art and really push my boundaries πͺπ» i wanna grow gosh darn it! so, wish me luck on that β i feel like my style is all over the place right now cause i don't know what i wanna do with my work, but i want to get better at movement and conveying emotion through body language, so my characters don't feel so just like..plastered in some random white space. we'll see what happens! i am so scared!

Ugh i hate making ugly art...it is the main thing that keeps me from developing since i know i can make something look good it feels so uncomfortable to make something that doesn't.

connor bought me a 12 x 12 canvas that has been just taunting me for the last two years so maybe this will finally be the time that i bite the bullet and paint on it!! AH thank you for your advice!! <3

These are beautiful! It's wonderful watching your style change and develop. I am so excited to see how it continues to change in the future π I'd love to offer a tip that helps me with figuring out movement, emotion, and other fine details; I notice you often draw on a small scale, which is great! It can also be very- safe? Something I do for myself when I'm having a hard time is drawing on larger paper. It forces you to think more about composition, placement, etc because you are filling a larger space. You can draw your usual style but scaled up and add some detail or whatever you'd like! In addition, if you can figure out how to put emotions and movements down in detail, it can really help later when you simplify them to fit your style.
