The wheel of time turns and ages come and pass...

DuskinReview

Tam? A veteran soldier going to retire in a small secluded farming village. Reminds me of another Tam..

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Lex Luther S

Zac did die but through some reason, he came back. No way leandra would miss the systems meddling after it annihilated her family and almost crippled her so it was zacs own determination to live that dragged him back from death. He survived the cosmic pond because of the fruit of ascension and his families innate constitution. Bodies that don't know when to quit and die. There's a reason the sindris clan is called the "undying" and even a piddling F grade is beyond hard to kill. The system has known zac was that child that survived and threw him into a roll for survival and him surviving was literally nothing but a stroke of luck. Through countless events, the first chaos pattern in the tower showed the system zacs potential for the peak of Chaos and since then, it has ensured he never stops moving for too long. Not fate? My ass it isn't fate. Fate is demanding the pillar of chaos be mended. Fate is demanding the son of chaos bend Fate, destiny and the very cosmos to his will. The system may have nudged things here and there but to say it's been a back door helper keeping him alive is an insult to all zac has been through. We've seen adnauseum that the system demands balance. It helped zac with his 2 breakthroughs in hegemony because the heavens are tearing apart the proper balance just to kill the rising void emperor and lord of Chaos. We saw first hand how generous the system was to zac after he irreparably damaged the corrupted tapestries of oblivion and creation, shaking lose authority that's been held since the eras beginning. The only time I can say the system has genuinely given zac a big W was with the Enoulus ruins. No way the system didn't know those ruins belonged to a Templar order and even had a sleeping eternal guardian.

Enthoney

Lol Zac would happily cede control if he comes across something tasty enough XD

MacMahon Wenzl

Indeed. The system arranged Earth during the integration, which means it chose to put the incursion boss spawn point in the exact same spot as Zac and then force him to roll for survival. The system knew he would need the fruit of accension, it knew he would need the cosmic water to help evolve his crazy bloodline/ race. It knew he would need a strong and competent army, giving him Ogras. It knew he had a chance to have 2 races and crated an opportunity for his undead side to be created. The list goes on and on. Re-reading the series knowing what would need to happen in order for him to become what he is now, the system set up many opportunities and then pointed Zac at them.

I really don’t think “fate” in this book series is the fate you’re thinking of buddy. Iz blast somebody with a fireball and if they die they weren’t fated to live. The system has obviously been helping Zack since literally day one when it brought him to life after killing him. His mom said he was dead but then he wasn’t, then the cosmic pond. It’s the system messing with things not fate.

It’s so much better now you can tell he’s actually writing the story again instead of just putting words on paper. He adds in little details that the last couple months haven’t had.

Jeff McCulley

I think the key is the part where Tam lost all of his brothers in the Phoenix Legion. I think he’s about to see a high ranking Templar die, probably protecting him and others, alone, and vows to stand vigil over the grave. Honor the memory. Some variety of that.

Rayyyn

SLAYYY THE HERITICS!!!

Jeff McCulley

He doesn’t? I’m guessing he’s not the powerhouse.

Jeff McCulley

Well, at least get an identity for one.

Jeff McCulley

I’m betting that about three paragraphs into the next chapter, Tam Brooks runs into one of those Templars, probably a Cardinal.

Jeff McCulley

I feel like it was just that he was at an awkward point, getting through the Imperial Graveyard to the Centurion Base, and the story settled into place better there. The Graveyard was intended to be a disjointed, unsettling place, and the story reflected it. I’m far more concerned that he’s rested and healthy.

FriendorFo

Fate loves a hypocrite

FriendorFo

This. We so rarely get to Zac actually show off his strength and how it would appear to the vast majority of the multiverse population: a titanic monster out of legend, particularly for his level. Let that boy cook!

Jeff McCulley

Zac, a few chapters ago: “But if I stop fighting back against the winds of fate, can I even pretend I'm in control?” Also Zac, every day, always on. Oh, is there a treasure?; "Fate," Zac muttered. He'd made his decision. It was calling to him so he would answer. (Good fight, bro!)

Mike Naka

is it me or has the story gotten better since TFD went to 3 days a week? i'm trying to remember...maybe i missed TFD too much when he went on break for 2 whole months or the genre is getting too bloated? butt dayum this story keeps getting better and we're almost 1,300 chapters in. definitely, one of my top 5 faves. no one seems to complain about the 2 body problem. side note, the 3 body problem on netflix was pretty good, but i digress. but yeah, i think TFD's direction has been a success even though a lot of people were butt hurt by it, overall i think it's been a wild success in both pace & storytelling. can't imagine it any other way now.

Gaige Bradley

Thank you !

Andrew

Thank you!

Maxim

I'm betting that this Tam Brooks guy is gonna become a founding Member of the Templar order in the far future. Or some sort of major influence for the creation of the Templar order.

Hartmann

Zac is about to join yet another Limitless Empire Templer Order

Porter

Tam reminding me of Rand's father from Wheel of Time. TY for the tie in.

Tyler S.

Tyftc, what secrets does this simple guardsman have i wonder

Alexander Dupree

Nice. I like when Zac gets to be the hero occasionally. Normally we get a lot of David++ vs Goliath or ominously gray antihero both of which I like, it’s just cool to have him slap something out of existence as an act of protection.

BigOz

Thanks

Michael

I have a feeling it’s Tam. Likely he experienced horrors while fighting in the LE’s wars and went to this low cultivation area to retire. Zac taking the lantern could change Tam’s fate from what would have been a normal death to rekindling his fire and joining the Templars.

Lex Luther S

Interesting. To think the zone he entered is so dangerous even his supreme constitution is faltering. And to find such a memory lantern, kinda feels like fate called zac there. The treasured wheel barrel. The order of fertile earth. A young man with little talent. A retired soldier exhausted and weary after the loss of his brothers and sisters. I can't wait for tomorrow's chapter and to see the slaughter zac brings down on these heretics. But who's the one with the connection to the order of fertile earth? Markuz or tam? I think it's the kid.
