R. Maxwell Steele

I always felt like the system heaven hates Zac and thus tried to kill him over and over (starting with spawning him on top of a power cultivator where he little lived off a tiny chance of a dice roll. Ultimately the system figured out his date was too strong to end prematurely and instead lead him to the splinter and shard and forced him to trade away his potential create chaos glimpses for the system. In a can't beat em, make em your slave kinda way. Even now the system has forced Zac into this Ultom death churn to reap the rewards Zac creates.

Dextora

That’s fair Zac tends to walk towards fate that endangers those around him, but also show with Orgras and Catheya, his fate seems to bring others along with him for better or worse. Now I imagine Zacs disciples taking aspects from his path not his path in general. Emily being his path of the Axe. Max I think would be his path of death and a third disciple taking on his aspect of life. Though that’s just wishful thinking

MacMahon Wenzl

Good guess. I didn't even think about the lower planes.

MacMahon Wenzl

I think it's a mixed bag. Zac once said that he could feel a terrible fate awaits those who know to many of his secrets. ie: Karz, the void, his technocrat lineage. If his disciples get to close and embark apon a path to similar to his, they will probably all have terrible fate befall them. Ogras has been re molded by origin Dao, a baby living mystic realm, Ultom, lower planes, corrupt planes, the perennial vastness, and an assassin supremecy. He is the shadow of the Deviant Assura and still has had some of the most dangerous and deadly experiences anyone has faced. I imagine statistically the more people who stand in the shadow of Zac will be less likely to be shaded from fate.

MacMahon Wenzl

Only if K'Rav knew that Zac was truly blessed and loved by the systems heaven. I mean, we don't know for sure that Karz became the system, but if he did, it only makes sense that the lingering will of a true supremacy exist and will bless his progeny.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Joshua Little

I do wonder if Zac and give him another epiphany by pointing him towards the Void of Light.

Lex Luther S

Not really. For one, it's a memory domain involving a great inheritance incredibly valuable to zac. For 2, they're literally changing the very history of the domain, stopping it from blowing up, thereby saving an important strategic resource. For 3 zac is absorbing a Peak C grade void treasure and using its energy to set the foundations of the Fuxi mountain gate. Certainly, he may break through with his bloodline to the limits of what it can awaken too at the D grade, but the biggest boon is the repository knowledge as well as the healed damage to the Fuxi mountain gate. I'm more surprised it didn't take longer to finish up the dipper mountain memory domain given the astounding gains zac and ogras are walking away with.

Jeff McCulley

Also…is Zac counting on Kalir to give copies to Pervata? I thought he wanted the originals to give the Wendimars himself, but it sounds like Zac’s not planning on stopping “outside”. Just a bit confused. Guess we’ll see.

Jeff McCulley

Just occurred to be. Kalir doesn’t seem to blink an eye that Ogras has unsealed storage items…as his own appear to be. Guess that Monarch array master really was pretty handy!

Tartlet

Creation energy means Zac doesn’t have to really worry about missing appendages

Jeff McCulley

To be fair… Zac has apparently used his fingers, thumbs, toes and nose to channel the first seven petals. By my count, he only has one small appendage remaining for the last remaining petal. Ogras may come to regret this bromance yet!

Kirin

Don’t know if it’s me or the space between chapter but this feel like the longest break through ever… hope he gets something really good

Jeff McCulley

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, American or otherwise! I’m thankful for TFD, and all the fine folks here. Have a great day!

MacMahon Wenzl

I'm with you here. Iz pointed out how extremely rare void cultivation is. Zac has such extreme luck that it only makes sense for it to spill over and allow his closest followers to touch upon something as rare and powerful as the void. Edit: there is also the consideration that old cultivators used to be called Void Heralds, meaning that at some point the Void intersected with anyone path of cultivation.

Lex Luther S

True he has more longevity but zac has been stated mentioning that it costs much more longevity to rapidly heal wounds after reaching D grade given the sheer difference in grade and body compared to an E grade cultivator. Though as you mentioned he should have plenty of longevity treasures to take the brunt of the payment only costing zac a few decades to a century or two at most instead of the likely millennia of longevity it'd take to heal such wounds.

Lex Luther S

Doubt it. Creation still needs fuel to create so he would still have to pay in longevity to rapidly heal such grievous wounds. Though as mentioned he has plenty of longevity treasures to take the main brunt of the payment.

Lex Luther S

I doubt it. Even after the remnants became his and their undying will was snuffed out, I imagine he still has to pay a price when using the shards of creation to heal. Afterall, to create from nothing is still impossible, at least at his level; there must be balance for using such rapid healing. But as mentioned, he likely has enough longevity treasures to take the main payment while he only loses a few decades or centuries

Lex Luther S

Well ogras already mentioned Krav had given up and agreed to join his wagon in the PV and I imagine the little crazy goblin decided to fully embrace his role after Ogras was trained and improved upon by a genuine supremacy. He probably doubled down it being a smart decision after seeing just how blessed and loved zac is by the very heavens; especially after he actually awoke 2 eternal guardians, literally changing the very course of the war.

Tartlet

I love Ogras’ and Zac’s bromance. The first book was all “we are advisories” then “we are allies of convenience but will eventually betray each other” and now it’s all “I’m with you bestie UwU”

Omiso

After re-reading the chapter I'm beginning to think K'Rav is jealous and proud of both Zac and Ogras. The Ra'Lashar goblins where supposed to be crazy innovators that moved forward even if it meant their deaths. Yet these two "kids" not even a century old are outdoing them and he's going to be part of their story, as long as Ogras manage to fix the flag so the Heavens doesn't fry them both.

Tartlet

It was right after he used the life/death pearls for a breakthrough and was using that beacon to lure in trial takers

Shawn Treants

Sooooo goood!!!! Tftc! And happy Thanksgiving!

Jeff McCulley

Which, coincidentally, is the reason I think Ogras helped his gramps regrow his arm (and horns) as soon as he got his hands on a Treasure to do so, trading or otherwise. Might even have had one already.

Jeff McCulley

What he was surprised at was that he’s been getting fried for his unorthodox path since he grabbed the flag. It’s like the difference between Alea’s upgrades and Verun’s. Verun’s is completely orthodox, so no complaint from the Heavens. Ogras just isn’t used to doing anything orthodox. .

Suggested Edits “opposite side of Hidden Earth Abode suddenly” >opposite side of the cavern? “dumb Luck stumbling” >luck, lower case “counted on one’s hands” >the aphorism is “counted on one hand”. “of tHeritageage” >the Heritage

Silent Consent

No way. I think void cultivating is super rare.

Silent Consent

I don’t think you get a tribulation unless you are on the boundless path, but the system isn’t the heavens so who knows if it has goals of its own that he might have advanced somehow.

Silent Consent

I love these chapters that are from someone else’s perspective. My favorite is the fight in the can’t remember the name of the place the twilight harbor trial where he fraught the bottlenecked E grade undead cultivators. So cool!

DagNabItAll

The life attuned demons work extra effectively within Zac's life domain. I wonder if him and Ogras will form a similar synergy with his void zone.

Dextora

I love learning about paths other Zac’s it’s just interesting to see the discoveries they learn about the dao compared to him. It’s kinda the reason I wish for Zac to spend more time with his disciples, to see how their path would be influenced by him.

Dev Rez

No, you guys are forgetting when Iz Tayn thought to herself that the old monsters she knows would be shocked to know a frontier barbarian was able to grasp something they could not.

Surgebinder

Ogras is such a bro

Enthoney

I think specific daos that have it easier inferring Void based on their nature. Like the inverse dao, and now shadow dao.

Enthoney

Huh, so Ogras got a dao upgrade from his inspiration that shadows mirrors how the Void works with Dao. He also somehow didn’t incur a tribulation from the system? Was it so he could quickly help Zac or was it because he integrated void truths instead of dao insights?

Lizy Flore

Well I personally don’t think it’s too late. Ultimately, the void doesn’t have to be as central to his path as it is for Zac. Zac is working towards incorporating the Void into all his techniques, which is super super difficult as he basically has to find answers on his own. Zac needs the void, it’s the thing that allowed him to have his current core, and it’s even what his bloodline do. Ogras doesn’t though. That’s the difference. I think what Ogras did is similar to the cultivation of Hidden Earth. He did a mix of the void and his dao, a bit like Zac who uses dao of death and void of life simultaneously, or Hidden Earth with Inverse Dao and Void. I think. I think it’s far less complex than Zac’s cultivation, and that’s why I don’t see why it’s too late for Ograd to become a void cultivator. If he was C-grade, then yes, I’d think it’s too late.

Michael

My guess is that Zac will throw them into the void gate as the mountain explodes. Either that or the “lowest plane” I could see Ogras following an Inverse Dao path like Hidden Earth. That way he can be the Dao shadow for Zac’s Void.

Owen Stevens

thinking of Engo makes me think it's possibly a requirement for ascending to S grade since he attacked zac for his secrets.

Michael

I think it was hinting more at the Inverse Peak. Seeing as the Inverse Peak has some relation to the Void and his path. He’ll be Zac’s Void shadow through the Inverse Dao

Owen Stevens

I think once cultivators reach a high enough level they gain an understanding of the void. It makes sense some do it sooner and easier. All dao is connected and it stands that void is also connected.

Hakeem Gordon

As the Heavens expand, it's shadow sits on the horizon, and just beyond, lies the void. This chapter gave me goosebumps!!

Jeff McCulley

“If not, I'll have to get creative.” I kinda feel like that would involve him getting the Fuxi Mountain Gate fixed enough to shive himself and Ogras inside, then send the Gate through to his other body. Except that all four of them being at the Mercurial Court would se to mess up the Hollow Court mission. And screw over Ventus big time, since he probably stepped outside the memory realm by now.

Jeff McCulley

Even if he does still pay longevity…he has a whole bunch more to use now. And generally has longevity treasures to snack on. Guessing he’ll just regenerate naturally, though.

Jeff McCulley

He’s had an affinity with the void from the very beginning.. Of course, back then it had more to do with voiding his bowels at some of Zac’s shenanigans, but he’s grown up. And void is void.

Brian Small

Ogras: Do you have an exit strategy? Zac: Um, maybe? We might have to get creative. Ogras: Heh, you had me worried for a moment, things will be fine then.

Mateo Lopez

I’m not sure if it’s been stated out right. But my assumption was that after successfully surviving Atavism, Zac doesn’t need to worry about the cost. The remnants didn’t have any aura of the ancient will.

WESTON FRENCH

I always did think Ogras’s path of shadows had nice synergy with the void

Pascal Kwizera

Not sure, it could be that he now pays with vigor? Seeing as he tied most of the remnants to his constitution and core.

Pascal Kwizera

Ogras regrew his arm ages ago when he upgraded his race to d grade. Either in book 9 or 10.

Lex Luther S

No, in the void star when he zac and Iz were about to attack to close the breache, ogras had told Iz he had regrown his arm since then, when he was telling Iz about the story of valena or whatever her name was stating he had given his arm to prove himself to zac when it mattered most.

Hellasz123

Im not sure he pays longevity price now that the fragments are his own

Rid

I don’t think so? He’s pretty far into Hegemony to accommodate the void in his cultivation. I’m betting it’s just a more comprehensive Earthly Dao that plays with the idea of the void rather than actually using it. But only Ogras and TFD know at this point haha

NiceTryMate

Wonder if the cost of using creation energy has changed after the Atavism?

Omiso

Ogras also mentioned that those who follow the same path tend to meet one another. So I believe you are right, both Zac and Ogras, will end up meeting other void cultivators on their journeys.

Omiso

Funny how K'Rav, a warlock goblin who "died" by playing with powers beyond his comprehension, is suddenly the voice of reason in this situation. Also isn't Ogras left arm is fake. He might have regrown it by now but chances are is still made of shadow stuff.

Lex Luther S

Bro, what a great chapter. We get confirmation that ogras does know zacs ability is related to the void, and he even got the original copies from the repository. The BIGGEST W is ogras finding a path to HIDING in the shadow of the very dao itself and learning ways to avoid and counter the void as well as allowing him to upgrade his branch into an Earthly Dao. Honestly, it's pretty interesting seeing someone with actual affinities gain an epiphany and breakthrough compared to zacs breakthroughs. This breakthrough, as well as his recent gains with that primordial croc and ogras' strength, has increased by leaps and bounds. Still, to think zac would be willing to go so far, lol. Missing his face, eyes and all limbs, guess his constitution is going to be working in overtime to fix all those wounds unless he uses creation energy to fix himself up. Surely he has enough longevity treasures to supplement the cost of using creation energy. Man ohhh man Friday can't get here soon enough. Glad I've got the next 2 days off thanks to Thanksgiving and black Friday so hopefully it'll get here quick lol.

Lizy Flore

I feared I understood incorrectly, but… ogras is really becoming a void cultivator after that, isn’t he ?

Lizy Flore

I sooo love Ogras’s chapters 😍😍😍 he’s the best

Edgar Segura

Their relationship reminds me of my military buddies and the stupid stuff we've done. Thank you TFD.

The Lost Pages

Heavens Shadow... quite the appropriate direction for Ogras to go. This chapter was certainly a supreme treasure.

MacMahon Wenzl

The number of void cultivators could probably only be counted on one hand, and it seems Ogras has begun to touch on that realm as well. Might need a second hand to start counting with by the time Zac is done with the Limitless Expanse.

Austin Barton

Ogras the goat

Andrew

Thank you!

Michael Fannon

Oh, Ogras is going down the path of the void now? Nice.
