Expendable

More like Mox would be a great addition to his flag. (eventually)

David Ballantyne

Zac appreciated the gesture, though it would change much - wouldn't

Robert Phipps Jr (Perren d'Wolff)

You say that but we already know he has killed at least one Monarch himself, but the cause of death for several more, including a peak monarch breaking through, as well as at least one aurtoch if not 2 (the reaver aurtoch was slain and its body possessed but Jalach and it was implied that the edilon may or may not have survived).

Robert Phipps Jr (Perren d'Wolff)

I totally read that passage in a scooby doo villains voice.

DrSubterfuge

It was introduced as a term is for beings that survived the collapse of a previous heaven. The personal equivalent of an Eternal Heritage if you will. That fits Wal'Zo, as he is from the First Era. It could be that there are deeper similarities between the people in this category that will be explored later, but so far at least there isn't anything more to it than a label. For all we know some of them aren't hated like Jalach and figured out how to get the heavens off their case for violating the law of impermanence.

Lex Luther S

Zac is only a hegemon. He can't face or deal with those old monsters till he himself is a supremacy.

RedEyeLordofFire

I don't think Wal'Zo is one the Ancients

Lex Luther S

Definitely. Each one is the equivalent of an A grade and while jalach is down bad, we don't know the current state of the other two calamities. For all we know they're in a hibernation state awaiting the eras' Zenith. It's important to note that jalach was able to overwhelm the defenses of a reaver and eidolon autarch as well as a sangha autarch that cultivated a heart world and take control of the reaver and sew their inner worlds together. If even a wounded and almost annihilated jalach can do that, then zac shouldn't go near these beings till he's a Peak autarch or supremacy.

MacMahon Wenzl

"Everything would have been perfect if he hadn’t gotten mixed up with another old monster." You mean everything would have been fine if another old monster hadn't gotten mixed up with the Deviant Asura, lol.

“A few of them are surprisingly benign. Meeting them is a fate-defining encounter,” So…Wal’Zo. And how many others that Zac has (or will) run into?

Michael

Considering Laondio is behind all of this, I doubt he would have scrubbed Karz from history only to forget to erase him from these memory domains.

Jeff McCulley

Zac’s good buddy the Earth is helping out. They like what he’s doing, remember? Back when he saved Earth’s Holy Son?

Michael

So the Grimoire had the ability to almost perfectly hide in the seams of life. Why does that sound a lot like Ogras’ revelation about the shadows of the Dao? Seems like Mox or one of these Grimoires would be a good match for his path. The stealing life from others seems a bit similar to his flag too.

Matthew Hay

Perhaps the Hidden Earth heritage making its way to the Margrave in this timeline has increased knowledge of the Void. Your thoughts also bring to mind the fact that Karz is a key player in the Empire, but his identity was wiped from the Cosmic Destiny. So, would anyone here know of Karz? What happens to all the events he would've been part of? He should be around still, so he shouldn't have been wiped from memory yet at this time. There's also the fact this is mainly dealing w/ Imperial Faith and thus the Imperial Destiny, so is Karz wiped from that as well?

Matthew Hay

The technocrat clan you're referring to is the Sindris bloodline, which Zac has some heritage from (leading to his increased durability and recovery). Zac's father is a direct descendant of the Void Emperor, but does not carry the bloodline (as Luke mentions). It also raises the question which I don't think I've seen raised - who is the older man in Zac's bloodline visions if it's not Karz? This info implies that vision comes from another era. Unless Zac mistook him, though I recall him being confident it wasn't Karz.

Chewbacchus

Was a dope chapter, but an editor needs to go back over this chapter

Bruh1994

I’m just curious to see more of the story behind the void emperor and how he reached enough power to be deemed that title. Also I’m curious to just how much void cultivation is present during the age of the left imperial expanse. The monarchs mentioning Zac’s connection to the Void without too much surprise is interesting because it implies that they knew about others who successfully used it

Alexander Johnson

oh boy, this is some good eating - Zac getting tangled up with ancient and dangerous entities (or as I like to call it, a normal Wednesday), earning an opportunity with the hollow court and more!

Luke Scheffe

The jade general explicitly said that this was not the first time they met that the future him was talking about.

Luke Scheffe

The Sindris founder said that there could only be one per era. This is possibly information direct from Karz, but it’s hard to know. The Sindris did a lot of research into replicating the bloodline, but all they managed was faded copies, missing most of the features. Nobody is sure how the Kayar-Elu were able to give Zac the bloodline. The Sindris speculate that it only worked due to inverting it, though Leandra’s thoughts and the system’s actions seem to indicate otherwise. Zac could be a one time exception, or maybe the combination of the Limitless Empire, the Sindris and the Kayar-Elu screwed the pooch so bad it will never walk again.

Luke Scheffe

I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of them is dead. The limitless empire stood near the pinnacle of existence for a long time, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they managed to pin down one of the others. Hell, Jalach is a significant portion of the way to being dead, and that was done by the epiclesis bell civilization.

Owen Stevens

Doesn't that one technocrat faction have a whole bunch of people with the void emperor bloodline? How can there only be one void emperor? Also, zac would be the second void emperor of this era. Or do you mean there is only 1 true void emperor at a time?

RedEyeLordofFire

I think its just referring to the Heavens of the current Era. When Jalach's presence was revealed inside the Epiclesis Bell Both the System and the Heavens tried to destroy him.

Omiso

I'm guessing its a way to gain the Faith the Left Imperial Expanse would've gotten now that the Joyous Court won't end as a corrupted wasteland and for the trial to reward Zac's merits allowing him to get the permit to enter the Hollow Court. Still just a guess as there are many elements of this place still in the dark.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Markus

I'm wondering why the domains faith is restoring. Are we gonna meet another old monster?

Mathias

Maybe its reffering to the incomplete heavens of the lower planes, as thats where she is from?

Tom C

Pfft ancient smancient. That fucker will learn the true meaning of fate when it gets in Zac’s circle of death (once he’s powerful enough to smash ancient beings anyways 😂) TFTC

Palmer Evans

I feel like the System would not have been as generous with the Kan Tanu if they were involved or spawned from any of the three Ancient evils

Palmer Evans

Good point about the Jade General

Omiso

This chapter made me realize is not enough to get a lot of Imperial Faith you need to preform a great deed to get a permit and be allowed into one of the courts. Zac just got his ticket to the Hollow Court, but Arcaz is still low on the Mercurial Court Faith Book, unless Esmeralda "borrows" a permit they better start going into the corrupted zones over there.

Andre

Yeah trying to raise the 8th with the Fifth Pillar

Sirloki

Unless the plaguebringer is the true source of the Kan Tanu/ that other sects heart curses

Gaige Bradley

"Empires and heavens alike are trying to hunt them" does that mean there is more than one heaven?

Matthew Hay

But then the River of Time crashing into this realm w/ Old Man River presiding, is purely to function as a detailed simulation of key failings for a dead empire? The fact they are failings I think is key. These were isolated for a reason, and I think restoring imperial faith or weakening its taboo in the present is small cookies. Why worry about the taboo if there's no empire that remains? Also, clearly participants can affect the future here, because Zac already ran into the future version of the Jade General who knew him from the past. That happened when he fell into a cortex first, but it implies that affecting the future is a reality w/ all the resources in play here. The question is to what extent are these changes allowed to propagate within the controlled events? Also, if Zac could fall on his ass into the past, then there's gotta be others, especially time cultivators, that are causing uncontrolled changes as well.

Matthew Hay

Gotta be related to the fact there can only be 1 void emperor per era. That implies the void emperor bloodline is a constant to the cycle of rebirth? I suppose you could argue something is always inevitable given infinite universes, but then why only 1 per era? Seems like a constraint from the Eternal or the Wanderers, or something equally as powerful.

Matthew Hay

I think it depends on his 'fixing' of the court, which is why there is no Flamebearer-specific quest yet. First, accomplish something w/ the courts, then group up for the main event w/ your seal bearers and do whatever for the main court.

Matthew Hay

With how large an undertaking this is, it wouldn't be surprising, especially if the Empire is already tracking and targeting them. You'd want to strike at your enemy before they're too strong. Though I have a feeling it would be tied to another court or Flamebearer's questline, I feel like TFD doesn't usually blow his whole load on just the MC.

Omiso

So Zac has been tagged by 2 of the 3 evil ancient's, any chance The Plaguebringer show up just to not be left behind??

Victory Holcomb

So will this encounter give him some authority that the other competitors don't have when he gets to the left imperial palace?

SandreX

Can you explain your theory a bit? I'm curious.

Palmer Evans

Wow great point about the Supremacies probably knowing the plan for the Pillar. They will expect to become memory copies I guess. Also, I thought Jalach was going to be one of the main big bads of the series and he prob still is, but now there are three of them for Zac to have as villains spurring conflict and high-stakes. I love consistently having my faith in this series confirmed by TFD

SandreX

You really think those things will be enough for A grade? We should thank Karz if it's enough for C grade :D

Palmer Evans

Yeah I think it’s more likely that the memory domain changes won’t affect outside reality, but heard a theory around the Empyrean Chalice that was intriguing.

Andrew

Thank you!

Alexander Dupree

Mixed up is how it goes they’re all outside fishing with lures of fate.

M💬

Something that stood out to me in this chapter is Mei’Er comment on “Zac’s notable heart and it being a rare treasure” this really stand out and it’s not the first time this statement has been made. Villari made a comment in the earlier books about how “ Zac’s mortal heart is a gift something among those line” ……… I just find it interesting because I think it might factor into him being an immortal. This is a theory I have been working on and the latest couple of chapters just keep adding more evidence. Also, great chapter.

ClaySavage

I’m unsure if affecting the memory domains will affect the future/present. I think it’s more showing the mistakes of the past and where they failed. But a lot of old monsters had items taken from them or stolen to keep the pillars alive/stable. All the old monsters want their stuff back that helped sustain the pillars. Now this is all just theories and I don’t know if it’s true, but this is my perspective.

Michael McLennan

Nice chapter

ClaySavage

Ha ha ha ha mixed up with another old monster. Plus, clues, about the one messing with his girl, Villari.

Palmer Evans

Do the memory domains have enough Imperial Faith to recreate an entity like Mox? Also aren’t there theories that these changes will potentially supplant some of reality at the end of the trial? Maybe Jalach can be dealt a blow during the trial

Tyler S.

And the loot ball keeps on rolling

Lex Luther S

Lol. I'm rather curious what's to come when they reach the lower courts. There's no way the supremacies overseeing those courts don't know what Laondio is planning, so it makes me wonder how they'll react seeing the end results. Truly can't wait. But an even bigger gain was learning about the ancient entities. The Plaguebringer, Jalach, and Mox. We know jalach is basically evil twisted emotions given physical form and now know Mox is a parasite drinking away the multiverses resources just to stay alive. That leaves the plaguebringer and given its name. I imagine it's name, I imagine its not pretty what it does to regions it visits. As for Zac getting mixed up with another undying monster, well, that's just par for the course at this rate. Can't wait for him to bring these beings down for some tasty good karma in the future. Maybe they'll even be worthy meals to evolve his bloodline when he's A grade. Truly we are still in the early game for this novel and man the future is COOKING. Now, there's just one last important thing to get and that's some extra tasty rewards before the domain collapses.

Lizy Flore

Thanks for the chap!

Grant Prater

finally we see the hollow court!

Sirloki

Woot! First
