Edgar Segura

Yselio and the Amanthi vs The Monks flamebearer? Maybe, possibly?

SandreX

I believe Zac will definitely kill him for good, but his plan would not backfire enough. Most probable outcome is that no one wins, but it will start the global bloodbath with part of the old Empire coming back. Chaos will reign supreme and Systems favorite son shall fish in muddied waters :d

Maria Klein

Still catching up but really hope you don’t leave us hanging to much longer with Rhubat being eaten!

Derek Reilly

"Yselio wasn’t didn’t mind having his actions exposed." This error needs fixing

Daniel Heritage

Well I hope that Yselio dies again and that it sticks this time, I also hope that his plans backfire and cause untold damage to the tobrial imperial pricks. Hopefully the same should happen to those shady monks, they keep talking about karma so hopefully they'll get some cosmic justice soon after screwing people over foe so long.

DrSubterfuge

Yselio's Heart cultivation took over Yrin. Since Yselio is the dominant personality, that's what he calls himself. Chapter 1,216 explains the majority of it.

D

Thank you!!!

R. Maxwell Steele

I think rather than usurp the limitless empire's destiny, rather he's trying to frame his own path as the heavens balance to the empire's sin. So that the heavens themselves will uplift him to correct the imbalances the empire created. It's an interesting gamble, but sounds like it's not likely to work.

Michael Kawesa

Isn’t Yselio dead?

Tomer Yud

:(

Taylor Greenwell

That was the best breakdown I think I have seen. And I actually feel I have a grasp on things now. You should do book summaries! Thanks, dude.

DrSubterfuge

No problem. Most of the explanation is in chapter 1,216 if you want to see where this is coming from

BLead Irish ambassador

Thank you for notes. I forgot about Inda

BLead Irish ambassador

Holy crap. I missed all that. Thank you

DrSubterfuge

Yselio is mostly the same personality that got killed by his brother. The three brothers were originally one being that was split into three to specialize in Heart, Body, and Soul cultivation. They were always meant to recombine into a single entity. Body brother, Yrin, killed Yselio, the Heart brother, and absorbed him. Except part of what Heart does is maintain your identity, so Yselio's personality ended up mostly taking over Body brother. That combined entity pretended to be Yrin until Yzum, the Soul brother, called him on it and he admitted what was going on. Then he killed Soul brother and absorbed him, but Yzum used some esoteric soul magic that we don't understand to try to keep hold of his identity. Yselio is the dominant personality so that's what he calls himself, but it remains to be seen if Soul brother will end up retaining his ego and surviving. For now he's helping Yselio with his plan.

Tyler

I wonder if them having similar paths will tie into it? Don't both Rhuger and Yselio follow a path of Light and Dark?

BLead Irish ambassador

Can you explain who yselio is? I was confused when, at the lighthouse, he was killed? Then I thought his body got pulled back to the empire so his body/fate could be absorbed/used by his brother. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Chapter 1216 confused me so much.

Ron Whitlatch

You mean given the ability that is suspiciously useful for taking over. Maybe by the limitless emperor 👀

Omiso

Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Tomer Yud

are we getting a chapter every 2 days?

TKO

That was a really good and comprehensive explanation. Thank you!

TKO

We now have a name for the Limitless Empire remnant faction. The Pesvati Rift. And they seem to be busy annoying the sangha.

Johnny

Holy shit thanks! That was actually really helpful, I didn’t expect a full on cliff notes but that was as appreciated as it was unexpected. Impressed you’d followed along so closely

DrSubterfuge

They were a single being that got split into aspects representing Heart, Body, and Soul cultivation. Yselio was the Heart brother. Yrin the Body brother. Body brother killed Heart brother and absorbed him, but oops Heart cultivation is all about maintaining the sense of self so Yselio mostly took over. He's been piloting the more powerful body ever since. Soul brother has protected his identity to some extent but is cooperating with Yselio, for now at least, to help with manipulating the trial.

DrSubterfuge

Yselio is currently in the process of trying to manipulate the trial so that whatever positive outcome it's trying to bring about for the Limitless Empire goes to him instead. He's doing that by manipulating the Imperial Faith and heaping on some of his Light/Dark edgewalker shenanigans. The current Imperial Heavens use Imperial Qi, which is a derivative of the LE's Imperial Faith, but close enough that it allows him to mess with some of the workings of Imperial Faith that underpin the domains and lanterns. He's also basically wagering Imperial Qi on it, so his whole faction is going to be footing the bill if (when) he fails. We also got some information about how the trial works. There are pillars that represent each of the courts. People bringing about enough positive change in their lanterns and domains are causing a ring to form around the pillar representing those changes to their court. They represent a "reversal of Destiny and a rebirth of the Limitless Empire" (whatever that means--it's presumably not completely literal, but who knows). Yselio believes the next phase of the trial will start when all the towers have a ring. He's holding back the Starfall court so that trial doesn't proceed until he's finished with his manipulation. The Sangha were the first to light a ring, and it included Karmic fuckery that was too subtle for Yselio to figure out. But presumably it's supposed to foil the rebirth. They have already been countered to some extent by that organization from the Endless Storm (the Pesvati Rift), which is really a group of loyalists of the Limitless Empire. (The seemingly technocrat guy who was hiding inside the other guy that Zac fought and subsequently went to hinder the baldies.) A ring for the tower for the Radiant Court gets lit right at the beginning of the POV. That's what messes up Yselio's manipulation. That was probably the result of Emily helping to subdue the god. And we got a snippet about the Radiant Court. Apparently, it protects the Peak of Faith’s Authority. Open question whether that is Laondio's peak (and thus the Tayn's Empyrean Throne) or if it was a subordinate peak for the Empire. The imagery matches up with the Tayns though. Flames of Faith an all that, plus the fact that Imperial Faith was such a ubiquitous facet of the LE's culture. The guy that comes to talk to him is the same baldie that was Thea's mentor during the intersector war. Baldie wants to enlist Yselio to help him stop the trial from fulfilling its purpose. As a faction the baldies are against the LE. Their head supremacy has lamented at some point that Laondio's still messing with his plans even still. Yselio says no thanks. He has his own plans. We get a lot of background info about how the Sangha work. First, confirmation that the heart of their faction is an Eternal Heritage. (There have been hints to that effect before but this chapter spells it out.) But more than that, it allows the members of the Four Oceans (which are modeled after the Four Laws, which persist between eras) to hide out in the "Buddha's dream" and persist between the eras. (This is different from the Sangha's outer peaks, which are rebuilt each era, modeled after the impermanent arrangement of Dao unique to each era, and sacrificed at the end of each era to safeguard the undying ones in the Oceans.) So Blessed Fate is actually one of those Ancients that have managed to persist between the eras and is the head of a faction that has also persisted between eras. (And, as an aside, that makes Emperor Limitless even more impressive for having surpassed them in a single era.)

TKO

Yeah, Yselios path of opposites kind of reminds zacs. And then there's the multiple bodies thing. Zac has two active but Yselio is now the combination of three. Or at least the experiences of the 3. Plus all the advantages of the heavens. He is way way too powerful for zac to handle.

Michael

Yselio seems to be falling for that imperial destiny poison pill. If he’s really trying to usurp all of the Limitless Empires Destiny for his own providence I wonder what that will mean for him? Seems like a good way to become a vessel for Laondio’s resurgence. Which is ironic given what Yeslio did to his brothers.

Katerina

Exactly my thoughts, I need a translation of this chapter please

Johnny

Don’t get me wrong I’m still a fan and all but does anyone have any idea wtf is going on right now? Or is the limit of our understanding supposed to be “Yselio’s a bad guy who’s plotting naughty esoteric things”

Hartmann

I still think Rhuger returning to the memory domain was the right choice. Maybe he has extreme fate with it.

TKO

So Rugher and Ra'khlid are on a collision course with Yiselio? That doesn't bode well for them.

Jeff McCulley

Everlasting Peace?

Jeff McCulley

Hollow (Human Zac, Ogras and Ventus) and Mercurial (Draugr Zac, Esmerelda and Janos)

Jeff McCulley

Sure. I have it in Notes. Will clean it up a bit. The Nine Courts As of the opening of the Templar Training Base, Zac had two full cycles, with two spare sealbearers. Twenty total. That is distinctly subject to change—and not merely because of the volatility of the newer sealbearers. Thirteen of “his”, plus Kator and Catheya, accompanied him on the Yphelion. Rhubat, Boje Zethaya and Lissa, plus four unknowns are the seven who remained behind. 1 Hollow Court/Skybreaker Built by Undead Empire/Primo Ogras (3) Lissa (?) 2 Mercurial Court/Realmsinger Built by the Pasho'Har? Janos (3–Previous, 1,193) *Unknown 3 Anima Court/Soultaker Built by Beseechment Pavilion (Realmsinger) Vilari (3–1,243) *Unknown—Because Zac thinks he has two cycles, but doesn’t know about Thea being alive…and can’t be counting Inda. Thea (3-1,269) *Inda, Endemire Sage’s granddaughter. 4 Tethered Court/Chainbreaker Rhubat(3-1,269) Bubbur 5 Starfall Court/Reignender Rhuger Ra’Klid (3–1,234) 6 Radiant Court/Lightbringer Emily (3–Previous, 1.193) Carl Elrod (3–1,234) 7 Farsee Court/Plainswalker Ibtep Jaol *Also had a Kan’Tanu prisoner in Purgatory with a piece. 8 Daedalian Court/Threadwinder **Where the Sangha are looking for the Bridge of Karma—and these new Imperials are interfering. Galau (3-1,234) *Unknown or Ventus? (I’d expect the Numerologist to have 3) /Catheya (3-1,267) Loyalty to Draugr Ventus Loyalty to Radiant Temple 9 Indomitable Court/Blooddancer Joanna (3-1,257) Kruta (2–1,234, 3–1,267) Stray sealholders Boje—Unknown Seal Thea—Anima Court, Soultaker of Ultom Tavza—Unknown Seal (3–1,268) *Pizru—Presumably Hollow Court (2/3?—1,268) *two other Draugr with completed seals Ventus—Daedalian Court Catheya—Daedalian Court Stormstar (prisoner, deceased): Hollow Court > Carl’s Wife, Lissa Unnamed Kan’Tanu “The second seal was a piece of the Farsee Court. The sealbearer was a Kan’Tanu, and he was currently locked up on the bottom floor of Purgatory with Starstorm.” Inda, Endemire Sage’s granddaughter. Anima Court. With Radiant Temple for Left Imperial Palace. Likely: Everlasting Peace Ykrodas Havarok Reoluv Dravorak Pretty and Average Pesk

Jeff McCulley

The “ancient cloth” that Yselio is wrapping the memory lantern in appears to be the fate treasure he took from beneath the elder foreign god, back at the Centurion Base. Am I the only one? As I was reading that, I kept thinking, “Man, Zac’s sure going to enjoy that after he takes it off Yselio’s body”.

Matthew Hay

Him and his 2 brothers were all split from 1 original being. When the second brother killed him, they were reunited. They then went and sought out the 3rd brother and did the same to him, where this is all explained. It's in ch 1216, 2nd section.

Borbino the great

I think he mostly went into memory domains and negatively affected the outcome likely causing worse situations then would’ve developed naturally

Borbino the great

I think he had some way to take over one of his brother bodies? Atleast that’s how I’ve always remembered it could be totally wrong though

bryan ortiz

I may need to find where Yselio did not die... I thought he died after he was.. lemme think.. injured in the fight with Zack, then skewered by the technocrat, right before launching the Centurion Lighthouse thing towards the enemy? Then Yselio would/could have been revived, but someone else killed his leftover almost-dead self after being pulled by some imperial family member... Am I misremembering who this dude was or did I skip/miss something?

Chewbacchus

'Yselio wasn’t didn’t' remove wasn't

Adam Fellon

Could someone post who is involved with each court again?

Ether Harwell

What were the two court/areas that Zac's two bodies were in?

MacMahon Wenzl

I know this is all being set up for Zac to come crashing in, literally CRASHING IN, at the last moment, and swoop up many of the rewards others have been trying to gain themselves. It is still stressful reading all the subplots.

Andrew

Thank you!

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Jeff McCulley

I’ll add, in retrospect, I’m not sure whether Yselio would have killed the Starfall Court sealbearers. After all, he says himself that he doesn’t know how many rings it will take—and I doubt he wants to do all the work himself. That said, if he “interfered” with the sealbearers somehow—it opens the question of whether he might have somehow influenced Rhuger to turn around and head back.

Jeff McCulley

Indeed, Emily’s completion and halo are what interfered with Yselio’s “experiment”.

Jeff McCulley

Also, Yselio is interfering with the Starfall, not the Farsee.

Jeff McCulley

If you rearrange the order by the A/N, Janos makes eight lit. See my more detailed post above, if you wish.

Tartlet

Yselio got big “even now, this is me being… reasonable” energy.

Jeff McCulley

Posted above, trying to sort it out.

Jeff McCulley

Pasting The Courts Together. Judging by this: “In the four weeks that followed, similar halos had sprung up one after another…” I think we can safely assume that at least a month has passed since Zac’s last chapter. At which point six of nine pillars had rings. TFD not only wants Janos’ chapters to be last, upon looking closely, he’s arranging the POV chapters in the order a. Emily b. Yselio c. Joanna, and d. Janos. Which suggests that Emily interrupts Yselio’s corrupt “experiment”, being the sixth out of nine. Then Joanna: “A voice echoed in her mind as a bloody halo was born around the Indomitable Court’s pillar.” …would be seven. And finally, Janos: “The Mercurial Court’s pillar was much closer than yesterday and two rings had appeared around it.” Er, did Janos complete two? Or were Zac and Esmerelda one? Plus… “It was just like the other ones who’d suddenly changed over the past weeks” …probably makes it the eighth. With Yselio stalling progress on the Starfall Court: “He’d worked hard on suppressing its awakening until everything was in place.” …that translates to me that he’s either interfering with, or outright killing the sealbearers for the Starfall Court. Which doesn’t bode well for Ra’Klid. Of course. This is one of the Courts the Empyrean Chalice sent agents to. Also: “Yselio smiled, glancing at the Daedalian Court’s pillar far in the distance. ‘It’s a shame I’m on the opposite side of the continent.’” …if these two Courts are on polar opposite sides, I have no frame of reference to determine their positions relative to the five known. Maybe the Radiant Court merely being “distant” means that the Daedalian is on the far side of it from the Indomitable…but that’s a very slender thread. I’ll add… “The Farsee Court…Its fiery halo was a true elemental flame…” …suggests that Iz may have been the completer. Maybe? After all: “…compared to the Radiant Court’s flame of Faith.” …Emily completed hers under the aegis of the Dawn Templars—and Joanna’s halo was “bloody”. Fitting. That’s all I’ve got for now.

Jeff McCulley

Ch. 1,335 Edit Suggestions “lazy sword strike created a” >stroke “it was the work of the imperial loyalist” >loyalists “The sea light bursting from” >sea of light

Jake

Agreed, all the top dogs are just letting the rest do all the work , lol

M💬

I always had the feeling that the Sangha was not has well knit as they let on. The abbot was way different from what the sangha we know I always thought he would play a bigger role in the sangha’s future. he still might since he his a reincarnation of a supremacy probably.

M💬

Does Zac forming a Cycle give his seal bearers more of an edge because it seems the Radiant court might have lit up based on Emily’s actions… TFD did say this chapter will be placed at the end of Emily’s POV.if I remember correct he is the only one with the cycle quest that we know off. Also, what if Rugher is the one to disrupt Yeselio’s plot in the star fall court.

Shivam

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Laondio made a prophecy in which he said VE is not part of the prophecy which meant VE's fate came to end with the system's awakening. Even Wal'zo has said Laondio would not have anticipated Zac's birth. Anyways, Zac is pursuing Void road meaning void cultivation which seems completely different than the orthodox cultivation of imperial destiny. Limitless empire should have its own plans, why would they depend on some D-grade brat for some grand destiny. Zac has already made his position clear, he doesn't believe in imperial faith which makes him incompatible with the empire.

DrSubterfuge

This POV happens right after Emily finishes a long quest chain for the Radiant court. Seems safe to assume that taking out the god is what lit the ring.

Lex Luther S

Interesting. Seems yselio is betting the horse to becoming an emperor in his own right lol. And it seems the courts are being lit. Wonder who lit the radiant court. Maybe Emily's actions caused it. I'm curious what yselio is doing to the Farsee court as if im not mistaken, that was the one Iz and carl are heading to. Speaking of, makes me very interested how that trip is going. With carls madness and full hearted conviction in the chaos zac and his fate can bring. Welp, seems the time for Zac and esmeralda to get the treasure and make off like bandits is approaching and boy ohh boy I'm excited. If this is for the end of book 16, then the coming chapters are gonna be show stopping bangers.

Mike

You know the Sangha suck when they make Yselio appear almost reasonable

Jeff McCulley

They didn’t “knew” it. They learned since his arrival, and have adjusted.

Malcolm Gray

The Sangha has got to be the worst faction in this series

Jeff McCulley

I almost feel like we get a hint, between this and Janos’ POV. Yselio thinks that it’s a foregone conclusion that the Supremacies are going to fight over the LIE in the next stage. But what if Zac manages to “bring out” Limitless Supremacies to claim it first? BTW, Yselio needs to be squashed.

Jeff McCulley

Zac and Esmerelda started from where they landed, with no lantern. Others landed where their lanterns placed them—and if you recall the start of the arc, the Sangha Flamebearer had three lanterns for his three avatars. Also. Zac and Esmerelda were not completing a chain quest on their way there. That’s what the rings represent. Also…there’s clearly been a time skip of at least a few days since D-Zac’s last POV.

Palmer Evans

It does seem like the Limitless Empire knew enough about the future to know Zac’s name and purpose (based on what we heard from the Sage in the memory domain). If they are planning to leave the Empire in his hands, then it wouldn’t be like they are leaving it in the hands of a complete stranger.

Jeff McCulley

IIRC, Amanthi was Thea’s sword instructor. The rest I’m going to have to digest.

SandreX

I think Zac is some kind of messiah, created to bring change, to give everyone chance on breaking the terminus. Probably Limitless and Void Emperors with the help of heavens and hells created a child that could truly be free from chains of fate so when he starts his rise he shall bring forgotten war machine of empire back along with their undertaking.

Omiso

I'm surprised they manage to activate the other court's before Zac managed to get to his. He's been going hard at work to get to them. Then again Fate is an important part of the trial, better let your enemies play their hands before you flip the table on them.

Palmer Evans

Is this the first confirmation that the changes made in the memory domains will change the past? If the Limitless Empire planned for this from the beginning, the foreshadowing of Zac just being the kindling to light the flame could make more sense. Why would they allow someone from the future to take hold of the reins of the empire when they can just subvert the future and take back control themselves? Zac’s Void Road might have to play a large role to clash with Imperial Destiny. Idk I could be way off base. The Emperor was obviously fine with Zac not accepting Imperial Destiny back at the Tribulation Throne so maybe Zac’s fate isn’t in danger of being consumed by the Limitless Empire’s schemes.
