So sorry I missed the livestream! I feel your pain about the fireplaces. My house (built in 1900) has one fireplace, probably originally coal-burning based on the size of the firebox. When we first moved in, we looked into all the same things, lining the chimney, rebuilding the firebox, and it was SO EXPENSIVE. So we didn't. Like you, we only have small fires for a short time, using one fire log instead of real wood. I also love Caswell-Massey almond soap.
