Yeah, when you look at what Billy knows (nothing) about Max’s new friends, and then sees her and Lucas talking, and her a bit emotional,.. then saying that Lucas is the “type of person” she needs to stay away from… I don’t know what other possible conclusion someone could have other than that he is a racist.

I remember watching this episode and being like racism?! Like they already had the midnight joke but when Billy said that to max I was like damn😭 and them not being able to tell max stressed me out so bad like girl I PROMISE it’s for your own good

Vietnam. I don’t think the show ever explicitly states it but if Hopper is somewhere around 40 years old in 1984 (current year of show, you can see from the different political signs in peoples yards… Reagan versus Mondale presidential election)… he definitely could have fought in Vietnam. ‘64 - ‘73 was the height of US involvement and Hopper would definitely be in prime age for military service during that timespan. We already know Lucas’ dad fought in Nam and Hopper is old enough to have a kid the same age as Lucas. If Hopper’s dad fought in any war it would be WWII or Korea.

Season one was amazing when it came out but the seasons keep getting better and better imo. Like season one was a great foundation for the rest of the series
