Modding Diary - Small Progress

I made some small progress on the gender reveal party this week. I started the week by turning the cake cutting interaction into its own interaction instead of an override, and of course I ran into some weird bugs and it took me a good 4 days to find a workaround. π
Here's the bug I encountered:
for some reason sims kept playing the interaction at the wrong spot D : after days of struggle I realized that I was able to fix it if I make the cake uncarryable. I still haven't figured out why because it makes no sense, but this is the best I can do right now. So sims should be standing at the right spot as long as the back side of the table is clear of obstruction, however sims will no longer be able to pick up the cake or the empty dish, or put the cake in the refrigerator. But you can just drag it with your mouse. I'm gonna keep looking into it to see if I can fix it, because it is a little annoying.
and today I created the interaction that you can use to generate the gender reveal cake/balloon. You will need to initiate the interaction by clicking on the balloon arch, and select "Get Gender Reveal Supplies"
A popup screen will ask you whether you want the cake or the balloon
you will get a notification after making your choice
and you will find the cake/balloon in your sims inventory
if your sim is having twins they will get two balloons/cakes, and if your sim is having triplets they will get three.
After Placing down the cake or the balloon you can then use the design tool to change the design if you wish
and that is all I have for this week.
Overall Im glad I was able to find a workaround for the bug I was having, I honestly dont know what I would do if I couldn't. Im sad it took me four days to figure it out, but hopefully next week will be a better week.
To finish this mod I still need to:
- Create the gender reveal party event
- Make more decorations
- Make gender reveal moodlets
- Make gender reveal activities if I have time

It's looking good so far! :D I know how you feel about dealing with bugs hahahaha π€£. I ran into that once and dang it was crazy to find and work out. Bugs, amirite? :P Those cakes look yummy too hehe
