I actually hit it a while ago and have been losing subs for years, haha. It's all good though since subscriber counts matter less than they used to with the current algorithm.
I think a vehicle does seem like a pretty easy choice for a first big paint job, but I'd still start with some smaller infantry or fodder-type units first. The hardest part in the beginning is just getting used to what painting feels like, the consistency of the paint, and how to do the various painting steps (base coat, shade, highlight, etc) - outside of that, definitely paint what you're drawn to! Working on things that actually interest you is what keeps it fresh and exciting.

You finally inspired me to get some painting supplies and start painting an army! I'm really drawn to the Death Guard (40k, I know), but I think a vehicle seems like a smart choice for a first paint job. A lot of surface area, and room for creative flexibility. Any input on that thought process, or thoughts on a first model in general to get started on?
