Like Bob mentioned with RJ and selling merch outside the venue, if the venue wants a merch cut, couldn’t the band just refuse and from the stage mention they would be selling merch outside after the show?
I’ve seen this so many times firsthand as a fan. Caught Turnstile back in May in Toronto, and grabbed a hoodie for $60. Just saw Turnstile on Tuesday; hoodie was $80. Same product, but venue cap grew from 1200 to 2500 in those 5 months.
