The Steamboat Arabia museum https://www.1856.com/ is located in Kansas City, Missouri (Mi-zoo-rah for those of us south of the river, Mih-sure-ree for those on the north side). It is a unique example of commercial riverine traffic in the mid-19th century, when there were no roads in the western half of the US. With a draft of less than 3 feet, boats could steam as far north as today's Great Falls, Montana with what was basically a floating department store. The museum is at the northern end of the free trolly route and the southern end is at Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial, which has a section on the war at sea featuring a Whitehead Mark 1A torpedo and a British 4.7" gun that served sequentially on a RN cruiser, British auxiliary cruiser Highland Brae, the German auxiliary cruiser Kronprinz Wilhelm, subsequently USS Von Steuben.

For Dry Dock Q&A Waving aside treaty restrictions, if the Tiger had survived until 1936 (we will say she was kept in service while Hood was completely modernized from 1931 to 1935) could she have been rebuilt with small tube boilers, some Renown style 3 inch armor upgrades, had her secondary armament replaced with 4.5 inch dual purpose guns, and KGV style 14 inch guns (not a big increase in gun size but solving the problem of needing ammunition just for her) but keeping her twin turrets? How expensive would this have been, and how useful would she have been? Would she have been as useful as Renown, or nearly so?
