You mentioned that ships in the age of sail had to carry quite a bit of money to pay for fees/supplies/bribes/wages etc. Seems like this would be quite a temptation to embezzle funds. Did this happen? How did they prevent embezzlement? Any notable examples of robbery/funds going missing?
