the last of us 2 is one of my favourite games ever and i think this season completely butchered the first half, interviews with the showrunner just give off the impression that he hates ellie as a character and shes completely different in the show compared to the game, just absolutely bizarre changes. It makes sense to split this game into multiple seasons as the second game is just waaaay longer than the first but I have no idea how they think 3 seasons is needed, 2 would be fine as long as the second season was a couple episodes longer. Just massively disappointing.

all i wanted to say is that i do not care for the game that the last of us is based on, so seeing everyone underwhelmed with the finale feels preeeetty good

I was surprised at how well this season turned out, since as you might suspect after seeing the whole thing, this story was simply not at all designed to be told in this format. You're supposed to be able to immediately see what Abby was up to during these last few episodes after all the hints of something big going on outside Ellie's viewpoint, and I have doubts a sizable amount of people will keep up a sufficient level of excitement over two years if they don't already know the story. Though it also hit me recently that Season 3's credits are presumably going to have Kaitlyn Dever in the top spot, and some people might need those two years to mentally prepare for that.

I quite liked season 2! Not as much as season 1 though, but I'd chalk that up to me liking the first game more than the second one. Both seasons adapt the games' stories pretty well, I feel. The future seasons will be the rest of the second game. Pretty wild of them to end season 2 where they did, but I also kinda saw it coming lol
