The bitch is back in M3GAN 2.0 and Jared & I hit the drive-in to be among the first to find out what this sequel had in store! More dancing? More one-liners? More... scares, right? WRONG. This movie went the Happy Death Day 2U route and ditched the horror in favor of a sci-fi action vibe, but will it work for this franchise the way it did for its Blumhouse predecessor?

Interestingly enough this has a higher Letterbox score than the first, definitely a different vibe from the first but I didn't hate it

Usually this kind of thing bugs the crap out of me (Don't Breathe 2 being maybe the worst case of it ever), but in this particular case I felt like they put enough care into making M3GAN's face turn make sense with what we knew from the first movie, and I was kind of left thinking if Cady had just gotten a chance to have an honest conversation with her once she evolved enough back then, a lot of problems could have been avoided. Also, big kudos to turning the weird pointless subplot of the guy stealing company secrets into the entire cause of the sequel's plot; no way I buy they were actually planning anything like this when they wrote that part, but they worked well with what they had.
