Taking a dip in some freshly melted ice water at the top of a mountain. This was the clearest water I’ve ever seen in nature. Incredibly cold too.

Redirecting a stream that was running down the trail. Also, ponchos are great for long distance hiking. They’re lightweight, keep everything dry, not too hot, easy to use, aaaand they also serve as a tarp.

Making myself a wooden dagger. There was bears and coyotes in the area so I figured it’d be nice to have something stabby, just in case. My plan was to use my backpack as a shield and go for the eyes. Luckily, there was never a need for it. Was fun to make though.

700 miles of hiking through the desert. Having a sun umbrella is perfect on a hot day with no wind. If there’s wind though, an umbrella is not your friend. You’ll spend a majority of the time just messing with it before it eventually breaks.
